CAS President Lu Yongxiang met with a number of high-level governmental officials and S&T leaders during his visit to Sweden from Sept 15 to 18.
President Lu held talks with President of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences Jan Lindsten. They renewed the agreement on S&T cooperation between the two sides and had discussions on detailed measures for its enforcement. President Lu was glad to accept the invitation of the Swedish academy to attend the 2005 Nobel Prize Award Ceremony held on the Dec. 10 in Stockholm.
In addition, Prof. Lu signed a Memorandum of Understanding for Cooperation with Lund University President Goran Bexell.
During his trip, President Lu, who is concurrently vice chairman of the Standing Committee of China's top legislature NPC, also met with Ms. Kerstin Eliasson, Swedish State Secretary for Education, Research and Culture.
This was the second leg of Prof. Lu's trip to north Europe. He visited Finland from Sept 13 to 15.
